  1. Is there a minimum age for entry to your courses?

    You must be at least 16 when you start your course.

  2. Is there a maximum age for entry to your courses?

    No. All ages are welcome.

  3. Are there any requirements for entry into the courses?

    First of all you’ll need to have completed your School Certificate and be at least 16 years old when your course starts.
    Otherwise you will need to be at least 20 years old

  4. Do I need an UAI mark to be able to apply?

    No

  5. Do I need a First Aid Certificate to start my course?

    Yes, you’ll also need to get a Senior First Aid Certificate or a Level 2 in First Aid in the Workplace before you can start your studies. Having a first aid qualification is a valuable asset for life and it’s essential if you’re going to be working in areas involving other people’s health and wellbeing.

    For your convenience we hold first aid courses at the college just before our courses start and we’ll be happy to give you more information on this.

  6. How and when do I need to apply?

    We run courses throughout the year and you can apply at any time; there is no application deadline. The best thing to do is come in for our next Open Day or for an interview with our student liaison or one of our educators. A non refundable $1,000 deposit will be required with your application to secure your place in the course.

  7. What services are available at the college?

    In 2007 we spent over $2 million building the most state of the art Beauty Therapy college in Australia! We offer a variety of student services available to support you during your studies including a library with computers and internet access, as well as learning support and counseling assistance. All our staff members are here to help you achieve your full potential.

  8. How are the classes structured?

    Diploma of Beauty Therapy & Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy - Full Time
    1 year | 3 days a week | Courses start in July and February
    Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday classes
    9am – 5pm


    Certificate III in Beauty Services - Part Time
    4 months | 2 days a week | Courses start in July and February
    Wednesday & Friday classes
    9am – 5pm


  9. What if I have completed units of this course elsewhere, will I have to do these units again?

    If you already have qualifications and/or relevant work experience that can be recognised within the framework of our courses, you may be eligible for some exemptions. So you won’t need to sit these subjects again. Please let us know if you think this might apply to you before you start your studies and you can complete an application for exception form.

  10. Do you provide Work Experience as part of the course?

    Work experience is really important for you to perfect your skills in a real salon environment. If you are studying on the college campus your work experience will start within our Ella Baché Student Salon. Here you work in teams under the instruction of our highly experienced educators. Our student salon allows you to work and learn in a safe, nurturing environment.

    We have integrated work experience throughout your studies ensuring that all our students gain valuable real client experience including client bookings, Skin Diagnosis, retailing, in- store promotions, salon team work and even some salon management skills.

    The Ella Baché College of Skin and Beauty Therapy is the only college with access to a network of 200 Ella Baché salons and 35 David Jones stores that provide work experience and employment for our students.

  11. Can I get a part-time job while studying?

    Yes. In fact we encourage it and may even be able to help you find something that will suit you and your studies. Over half of our students get part-time work during the course, because they study three days a week.

  12. What qualification will I get when I finish?

    Designed to embrace Ella Bache’s passion for the skin and Beauty Therapy knowledge and Edith Hallas’ commitment to industry excellence, The Ella Baché College of Skin and Beauty Therapy is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and is nationally recognised and accredited. This ensures our graduates that their qualification is recognised throughout Australia. Our students are also provided with the opportunity to receive international accreditation from the International Therapies Examination Council (ITEC); this is a leading UK based accreditation body.

  13. What kind of job will I get after I graduate?

    Once you’ve finished your course with us you’ll not only be highly sought after as an Ella Baché College graduate and Skincare Expert, you’ll also discover a world full of exciting career opportunities both in Australia and overseas.

  14. Can I own my Salon?

    Many of our students are excited about the idea of owning their own salon. As the only college in Australia directly connected to one of the country’s leading skincare and Beauty Therapy brands, achieving this goal couldn’t be simpler.

  15. What is the cost?

    The cost for each course varies. Please contact us and speak with our Student Liaison or one of our Educators on 1300 856 166 or email us at study@ellabachecollege.edu.au

    Please note: Fees can be paid upfront or by installments. And discounts are available for early payment! (We offer an early bird discount for people who wish to pay the full diploma course fees two months prior to course commencement).

  16. What is included in my course fees?

    Tuition fees include: all your course materials, Product Guide, student ID and Concession Cards for public transport. As part of your course you’ll also receive:

    • A Skin Diagnosis and Ella Baché products to start you on your skincare journey
    • Ella Baché products at discount prices during your studies
    • All Ella Baché products for your practical subjects in the College
    • An Ella Baché College uniform is issued to all students
    • All the linen/laundry you’ll need for your practical subjects provided by the College
    • Student manuals and text books are supplied to students for all units of study
    • Student ID card for all students (enables discounts with industry wholesalers)
    • Travel Concession Pass (issued by the State Transit Authority)
    • Student Handbook outlining our Policies and Procedures
    • Academic and personal counseling
  17. Are there any additional costs apart from course fees?

    Some students choose to purchase an additional uniform as well as make up and skincare kits for personal use. Your Student ID card will give you discounts on these purchases at many beauty suppliers.

  18. Can I get a loan for my fees?

    The National Australia Bank offer a Tertiary Student Loan for students of the Ella Baché College. This loan allows you to borrow the school fees and you don’t have to start making repayments until three months after you graduate. Please contact us and we can put you in touch with a very helpful NAB officer.

  19. Can I get youth allowance?

    The Ella Baché College of Skin and Beauty Therapy is a fully accredited Registered Training Authority (RTO) and as such all of our students who study full-time are eligible for Austudy, Abstudy and Youth Allowance. Once you have enrolled in your course you can apply to Centrelink by going to www.centrelink.gov.au click on online services and make a claim online.
    Please make an appointment with your local Centrelink office and find out what allowances you may be entitled to while you are studying with us.

  1. What is Stellar Learning?

    Stellar Learning is our unique distance learning program. It allows students to study Beauty Therapy with the Ella Baché College from anywhere in Australia.

    You can study from home and at your own pace, on a pay-as-you-go format.

  2. Can anyone enroll in Stellar Learning?

    Yes, anyone living in Australia or New Zealand can enroll in Stellar Learning. The only pre-requisite is that they have their School Certificate or equivalent, unless they are a mature age student, which is 21 yrs old or older.

  3. How does Stellar Learning work?

    Stellar Learning is a combination of theory and practical training workshops. The theory is done via correspondence. The modules and course materials are sent to students via email or post. You can complete your studies, assignments and exams in your own time and then send their assignments back to us.

    Throughout the course you will need to attend a series of four day practical intensive workshops. These are held in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane. These workshops will combine the theory modules that you have completed.

    During your studies you can contact our educators via email and telephone to get help with your modules.

  4. Do I have to relocate to Sydney to study with the Ella Baché College?

    No. Stellar Learning was designed specifically for students who wish to study where they live rather than relocating to study. The only travel that is required is for you to attend the practical intensive workshops. These are held in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Please note that many of our students do travel interstate to attend workshops in other states and combine them with holidays!

  5. How long will studying with Stellar Learning take?

    Stellar Learning allows you to control the pace at which you study. Some of our students will complete their Diploma within 1 ½ years, and others will take up to 2 ½ years.

  6. What does the course cost/ do I have to pay for the course upfront?

    Stellar Learning has been structured so students can pay-as-they-go, module by module. Each module has its own cost. Please refer to the Stellar Learning Curriculum for module pricing.

    We do require a $1,000 non-refundable deposit with the student enrolment. This $1,000 is taken off the cost of the last units of study.

  7. How do I get Practical Experience?

    During the program there are several four day practical intensive workshops that you are required to attend. These workshops provide the students with the hands-on practical training to compliment the theory modules they have completed.

    Additionally students are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of work experience in a salon.

  8. What do the Practical Intensive Workshop’s cost?

    There is no cost. They’re provided as a part of the Stellar Learning program. The only additional costs to students are travel, accommodation and related living expenses.

  9. When are the Practical Intensive Workshops?

    They are are held in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and scheduled throughout the year. Our educators will inform you of the dates of the next practical intensive workshop.

    To attend, you must complete the modules of study in the order that they are outlined in the Stellar Learning Curriculum. Please refer to the Stellar Learning Curriculum.

  10. Where will I do my final assessment to be awarded my qualification?

    After you have completed the modules of study for the qualification you have enrolled for, final assessments will be conducted in the next workshop.

  11. Can I get work experience whilst studying?

    Yes. You are required to complete 40 hours work experience in a salon to gain your qualification. This can be done throughout your study, ideally in between the practical intensive workshops. It is the students’ responsibility to find a salon that will provide them work experience.

    The Ella Baché College is the only college that can provide students access to a network of over 200 Ella Baché Salons & 35 Ella Baché Counters at David Jones, many of which do provide work experience and job placement to our students. Students can contact the college for contact details of local salons.

  12. Can I work in a salon whilst studying?

    Yes. Many of our students work in salons whilst they are studying. Some of them work part time, some full time. Of course the services that students can provide in the salon are limited to the modules of study they have completed and been deemed competent in. It is the students’ responsibility to find a salon that will provide them work experience.

  13. Does the Ella Baché College find jobs for students?

    It is the responsibility of the student to find work for themselves. However, the Ella Baché College can assist with introducing students to Ella Baché salons looking for staff and be a reference for your future employer.
